The system converts sunlight into electricity through the Photovoltaic process. The panels on the roof react when exposed to sunlight by creating DC (direct current) which is sent to the Inverter and converted into AC (alternating current) then supplied to the electrical system for use in the home.
Based on the customer’s electricity needs and desire to be energy independent, a SunWize representative will analyze the potential solar panel locations, available sunlight, shading and other factors to tailor a system to your specific application. The ultimate system size decision will be up to you.
No, you can reduce your bill down to almost zero, there are a few dollars that are billed to any customer just to be connected to the grid, but currently you can not be paid for net negative annual usage.
No. A SunWize grid-connected system uses the local utility grid like a big battery. On sunny days your excess power is fed into the grid giving you credit for future use. At night the power you draw from the utility is balanced against your credits. However, if the customer desires we can install a battery backup system for an additional cost.
Ideally your SunWize system will be designed to eliminate your electric bill. Restrictions however, on budget, space or sunlight exposure will affect savings potential.
Yes! Many customers choose the SunWize Residential Finance Program
A standard grid-connected solar system will not operate when the electric grid is down. Some customers elect to install a hybrid grid-connected/battery back-up solar system that will provide blackout protection for selected critical circuits. The additional cost of the battery back-up system should be weighed against the amount of time per year blackouts occur and the value of having selected circuits available during blackout periods.
South, West and East are all good.
SunWize PV systems are designed to minimally impact the aesthetics of your home. Panels are often recessed into roof tiles or mounted flush with the existing roof structure. Often the panels can be mounted away from the ‘street view’ of the home.
Yes! The system is modular. You can add up to the load limits of your inverter, and inverters can be added as well.
Yes! It is a good idea to make any repairs or re-roof if needed prior to having a PV system installed. If a new roof is needed once the system is in place SunWize can temporarily disconnect, remove, and then reinstall the panels for an hourly rate.
Solar panels are solid-state and maintenance free. Occasionally rinsing off the panels is the only maintenance required. The inverter is virtually maintenance free
Yes. Your system must pass both local building and national electric code requirements. SunWize Systems is an experienced, licensed and bonded California contractor, with hundreds of completed installations.
SunWize Technologies takes care of all permits and assists with HOA approvals, all included in the original contract price.
Your inverter will read out a lot of information, such as current output and accumulated total electricity generated. A green light will be on when the system is functioning properly. Inverters carry a 10 year warranty.
SunWize warrantees your system for 10 years from date of startup. Make sure you choose someone who you believe will be in business 10 years from now. Call us as soon as you believe there is a problem.
Photovoltaic installations have a positive energy balance. The energy used in the manufacture of a solar installation is paid back after approximately three to five years, depending on the quality, design and manufacturer. With an average service life of 20 to 25 years – which is guaranteed by the manufacturers – the energy balance is clearly a positive one.
The environmental impact and safety risk associated with the manufacture of solar cells is negligible compared with conventional energy sources such as coal, oil and nuclear power. Especially the silicon that is used almost exclusively in the manufacture of solar cells today is completely harmless.
Yes. Because the building insurance policy would also have to replace the PV system in the event of it being damaged, you should notify your insurance company so that it is included under your policy.
Possibly, If you have a high tolerance for the government paperwork process, a contractors license, electrical systems experience, are not afraid to put numerous holes in your roof and don’t mind receiving a 15% lower State Rebate. Like all specialized jobs, there are very good reasons to hire an experienced company like SunWize that does the job quickly and economically.
